European Technology Scouting Leader, Dow
Joost is leading the Technology Scouting effort for the EMEA region as part of Dow’s Ventures and Business Development group
In this role, Joost is leading the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies and opportunities coming for the EMEA region that complement Dow’s robust Research & Development pipeline and contribute to the Company’s long-term success.
Joost began his career with Dow in 1998 in the Advanced Electronic Materials (AEM) group where he led new product development efforts in R&D while simultaneously providing Technical Service & Development (TS&D) support for the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific regions. In 2005, he acquired commercial responsibility in AEM for Europe. Joost joined V&BD in 2006 with a primary focus on exploration projects and technology scouting.
Joost earned two master’s degrees in Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Applied Science from the Catholic University of Leuven. He has also completed exec. trainings at the Chicago Graduate School for Business, the Harvard Business School and the Cambridge Judge Business School on financial analysis and business modelling. He has published over 50 journal and conference papers and co-authored a book chapter
Tech Scouting and Innovation Pipeline Filing and Management
Dow’s Corporate Venturing (DCV) group serves to identify new technologies for Dow and to analyze and quantify new market opportunities that are enabled by these breakthroughs. DCV serves as an innovation pipeline for Dow, supplying a continuous flow of new concepts for evaluation. The Technology Scouting group within DCV seeks to identify and interact with emerging technology-based companies, and to interact directly with the sources of these innovations.
